Visiting Buddiup
Buddiup is a community of young men who spend time together, keep fit and healthy, and participate in the community. People enjoy spending time together, exercising and learning new things. It is normal to feel nervous when meeting new people. Julian is a friendly face at Buddiup who can share with you what you can expect.
Hi, my name in Julian.
I am Buddiup’s Office and Gym Assistant and a Buddiup Athlete.
I wanted to show you around Buddiup so you know what to expect when you visit.
You come inside this door.
There is a big Buddiup sticker on the front window and usually a flag out the front.
The yellow bin is a Cans for Change collection points for Recycle Man Perth.
Next, you will see the office where Alastair’s desk is and where meetings happen.
Alastair loves the Carlton Blues.
When you come to Buddiup you will meet the mentors. The mentors love spending time with us.
They are down to earth. Words can not describe them because they are so many good things.
This is a photo of Marco and I with a mentor, Harry.
This is the X-Trainer.
These are the rowers.
This is the Functional Trainer.
After training we like to hang out together and play a game like ping pong or chess.
This is a picture of Pat & Eli playing chess.
This laneway is called Plaistowe Lane.
I walk through Plaistowe Lane to get to Buddiup.
My Mum drops by off at Buddiup.
Some people come with their mentor in the car and they park at the Scitech car park.
Other people catch the train or the bus.
When you walk is you will see the desks where Lachie and Macca sit.
They are incredible lads and get to know you and your interests. They give you a nice greeting when you walk in.
Lachie is the head coach in the gym and Macca manages all the mentors.
This is Judd, the gym dog.
He is very cuddly and loves to sleep in his bed.
Judd isn’t shy, he loves a pat.
This is the Buddiup gym. It is an open space and very accessible.
We usually do a circuit on the equipment.
Now I will show you some of my favourite pieces of equipment to use in the gym.
These are the bikes.
This is the Ski Erg.
There is also a studio space where we play games at the end of the gym session.
These games are a really fun way to build friendships.
I prefer ping pong because once you start playing you never want to leave.
This is a photo of Marco and I playing ping pong together.
I look forward to meeting you at Buddiup!
